A Dermafile Exfoliation Treatment is excellent by itself, or as adjunct treatment with a facial. Dermafile Treatments exfoliate the dead, keratinized epidermal layer of built-up tissue which:• Provides a smoother surface and texture to the skin • Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles • Helps to gently even the coloring and lighten the pigmented areas of the skin • Encourages collagen synthesis to build new collagen, and thicken the dermis • Causes firmness and tightens the skin • Increases blood flow, oxygenation, waste removal, and nourishment to the skin • Stimulates proper healing of scar tissue and acne lesions • Loosens waxy plugs and clogs, enabling them to be extracted easier • Increases product penetration and effectiveness • Makeup goes on more evenly • Loosens and releases ingrown hair • A more suitable choice for exfoliation over peels during sunny months or when exposed to continuous sunlight • A better alternative to aluminum oxide microdermabrasion, with less risk of capillary damage; and permanent crystal damage to the eyes, nose, and lungs • More economical than microdermabrasion • No chemicals or gritty exfoliant residue Two other superior benefits aside from the aforementioned, is that there is no 'sandblasting' of tissue, to cut into the surface, and no skin-tearing suction to break capillaries and cause deepening of small blood-vessels. Dermafiles come in various file intensities, of which is determined by your skincare professional. Your skincare professional can vary the pressure and file intensity, which provides a customized treatment every time. Whether it is heavy build-up and congestion, or light flakiness around the delicate areas of the lips and eyelids, each area can be treated accordingly. Side effects from a Dermafile treatment are generally mild and transient. Occasionally one may experience temporary redness/dryness/slight peeling or mild swelling, especially if the treatment is performed in conjunction with other exfoliating services. There might be slight sensitivity or a sensation of a wind-burned feel. When used to treat acne/scars, there is the possibility of mild crusting or scabbing. Post treatment: Cleanse skin with a gentle cleanser, hydrate, and moisturize. Do NOT use any exfoliating treatments such as brushes, washcloths, Buff-puffs, enzymes, Retin-A/Renova, strong facial cleansers, home peels, or acne medications (topical and oral, Rx and OTC) until instructed to do so. Dermafile treatments are contraindicated for anyone with active pustular/inflamed acne or other infections. Not to be performed when cold sores/fever blisters are present. Will not be performed on immuno-compromised, diabetic, easily bruised, very thin-skin types, or ultra-sensitive persons. Your esthetician will make the final determination.
